Dear Praying Friends,
Thank you for all who have been keeping me and the ministry here in the Philippines in prayer. Our church is growing, and we have many young people who are fully surrendered to the ministry. It is amazing to see what the grace of God an do in someone’s life. It never gets old to see someone get saved from fiery hell, and then see God change them and mold them to what he wants them to be. Once such example is a 20 year old young man who recently came back to church here. He didn’t know we had been praying for him. One recent Sunday morning he was driving his motorcycle to get gas at the local gas station. However, he passed the gas station and came all the way to church. He said to me, “Pastor, I think God pushed me here today. Because I don’t even know how I got here, but I know God wants me here.” He hasn’t been in church in years, and at our recent missions conference he surrendered for Bible College and full-time ministry! Pray for Jopeter.
We recently had two different visitors on mission trips tell the same exact thing. When I heard it the first time, I believed it and agreed. But when I heard it the second time my heart was moved, and I began to rethink my own motives and thinking. The statement went something like this, “I have spent the whole day laboring with your people and sharing the gospel to the lost, and despite the weariness, the heat and lack of a full meal. I have not heard them complain once.” My people here truly love the Lord, and though they have so little materially, their focus is not on earth, this makes them rich spiritually. It reminds me of 1 Timothy 6:6, “But godliness with contentment is great gain.” Have we as Westerners become so focused on the temporary things of life that our spiritual vision for the Lord, our lives, and families has been hindered? Proverbs29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish:”. Let us keep our focus and contentment on the things of God.
Here is the latest update for our property here. Basically we are about $80-100,000.00 away from making a final move. We would be able to pay the down payment on the property we have now, or simply move down the road to a vacant lot that has been put up for sale. There are a lot of logistics involved since we have a growing Bible college, and we are applying for our government permit to operate a Christian school. While this makes things a little more complicated, I whole-heartedly believe the Christian school ministry, especially here, is essential in the lives of our youth. It is not something that we can stop now. We have already added five families in our church as direct result of our Christian school ministry. Please pray for us God’s provision in this matter of our permanent property. We are being pressured to make a move here, but we are trusting God to take care of it.
